More on pies and tall ships

It wasn't the expectation of green beans, there are lots of different sorts of beans and they are all good. But baked beans are something different and a bean, potato and cheese pie is something even more different. It is pastry filled with mashed potato over a thin layer of baked beans and the colouring of cheese on top. I think Tom will also find that it is macaroni pie, not macaroni cheese pie. There is a difference. I will leave him to the deep fried mars bars.

The second leg of the Tall Ships Race was leaving Lerwick on Friday, so they cancelled the ferry to Kirkwall and it left late only going to Aberdeen. We therefore left Shetland earlier than intended on the Wednesday. A few of the ships had already arrived in the harbour but as the ferry got into the open sea we could see more ships coming in full sail. One with green sales looked like those cigarette cards, or was it Wills tobacco? Another was like Clipper tea. They were a glorious sight as they appeared on the horizon and we could see them with our binoculars.
